Four hours a day, Monday to Friday, combining structured study with conversation, listening, projects and real-life tasks.
Immersion in Kyoto
Study in central Kyoto and experience local culture through the Discover Kyoto Program, including traditional arts and seasonal activities.
A pathway toward N2
Six progressive levels from N5 to N1. The April curriculum is designed to take beginners toward JLPT N2 over two years.

Important eligibility checks
- Academic beginners are welcome, but Immigration may require proof of introductory Japanese study depending on your profile.
- The school pre-screens your documents before submitting a CoE application.
- CoE and visa decisions are made by Japanese Immigration and the relevant embassy or consulate.
- Students planning to leave after one year should read the completion-certificate conditions below.

Know the cost before you apply
There is no payment when you submit an inquiry. Year 1 and Year 2 are billed separately according to the school’s payment schedule.
What is covered?
Classroom instruction, course materials, facility access, cultural activities, insurance and the required medical checkup are included in the published school fees.
Housing, airfare, visa-related charges and personal living expenses are separate. Typical living costs in Kyoto are approximately ¥80,000–¥120,000 per month.

Japanese for the next step
JLPT N2 / CEFR B2-equivalent ability is commonly expected for many professional and higher-education pathways in Japan. We prepare students for that next step while keeping communication at the center of the program.
Based on the school’s March 2026 cohort of 105 graduates. Individual results depend on attendance, progress, qualifications and the job or study pathway pursued.

From inquiry to Kyoto in three steps
Eligibility check
Send your inquiry. Our admissions team reviews your profile and explains which academic, financial and Japanese-study documents apply to you.
CoE application
After your file is accepted, Nihongo Center prepares and submits the Certificate of Eligibility application to Japanese Immigration. Typical processing is about 2–3 months.
Visa and arrival
After the CoE is issued, apply for your student visa at the Japanese embassy or consulate, arrange travel and housing, and arrive for placement and orientation.
Frequently asked questions
What applicants usually ask
Do I need Japanese before applying?
You may enter the curriculum at beginner level. However, Immigration may require proof of introductory Japanese ability or documented study depending on your educational and visa profile. Our admissions team checks this before accepting your application file.
Can I study for only one year?
A one-year stay may be possible. Students leaving after one year normally receive a certificate of attendance. The school’s formal completion certificate is issued to students who complete the full program or meet the required proficiency conditions, including JLPT N2 / B2-equivalent ability where applicable.
Is payment required with my inquiry?
No. The information request is free and creates no commitment. Admissions will first review your situation and explain the application, CoE and payment schedule.
Does the school guarantee my CoE or visa?
No school can guarantee an immigration decision. Nihongo Center reviews, prepares and submits your CoE file; Japanese Immigration and the embassy or consulate make the final decisions.
Can the school help me find housing?
Yes. The school works with accommodation partners and can assist with dormitory, share-house or apartment options. Housing costs are separate from tuition.
Can students work part-time?
Students with the appropriate permission may generally work up to 28 hours per week during term and up to 40 hours per week during designated long holidays. Work must not interfere with attendance or study.
