July is the theater of one of the most famous festivals in all Japan, the Gion Festival. Every year, thousands of Japanese and foreigners come to Kyoto to enjoy this very ancient festival for a couple of days.

The Gion Festival is said to be 1000+ years old. It is part of one of the 3 most famous festival in Kyoto with the Aoi Matsuri and Jidai Matsuri. The main location of the festival being very closed to the school, every year, we go with students wearing “Yukata” to have fun and experience traditional Japanese festival. It is very crowded but the alignment of food stalls make it really enjoyable especially at night. The festival itself lasts for 1 month, but the heart of the festival is beating for only 4 days and it is really a must to do in Japan during this period.
