Kyoto, former capital of Japan for around a thousand year, is famous for its traditional and historical places, and for the 3 great festivals, the “Jidai” Festival, “Aoi” Festival and “Gion” Festival. July is the Gion festival period lasting for a whole month with its peak on July the 15th,16th and 17th. As every year, we enjoyed the festival after class with some students. This year, the weather wasn’t that hot, which is rare considering the period. It rained a little bit, but other than that, the food stall and floats were amazing. It is a traditional aspect of the Japanese culture that students who just arrived to Japan really enjoy.

July is a month full of events at Nihongo Center and we are already preparing for the annual BBQ at the Biwa Lake next week. Around 100 students are expected for the occasion.

If you want to enjoy that yourself while studying Japanese, the application period for the April 2025 intake is currently open until October 31st, 2024.
