Intensive Japanese Language Program in Kyoto

The intensive Japanese program in Kyoto at Nihongo Center is more than just a set of classes; it’s a unified learning experience designed for practical communication

Nihongo Center’s Intensive Japanese Language Program runs Monday to Friday with 20 hours of classroom instruction per week (4 hours/day, Mon–Fri). All six JLPT levels (N5 to N1) are taught in-house. Class sizes are capped at 20 students, and level placement is determined by a written and oral test on arrival — not self-assessment. The program is designed for students who are in Japan full-time to study Japanese, not as an add-on to other activities.

JLPT N2 — reachable in 2 years from zero — is the threshold for most professional and university pathways in Japan.

In the March 2026 graduation cohort, 37 Nihongo Center students found employment in Japan and 35 entered Japanese universities. Both outcomes require at minimum JLPT N2, which the 2-year April intake is structured to reach.
